If you manage multiple sites in Kukie, the Copy and Paste Settings feature lets you configure one site exactly the way you want it, then duplicate that configuration to one or many other sites in seconds. This saves you from manually recreating banner designs, region rules, and integration settings on every new site you add.
What this feature does
Copy and Paste Settings takes a snapshot of a source site's configuration and applies it to one or more target sites. The snapshot includes the visual banner design, your custom banner texts in every language, region rules, and integration settings. It does not touch the destination site's domain, scan history, or visitor consent records.
Typical use cases:
- An agency setting up dozens of client sites with the same template
- Testing changes on a staging site before applying them to production
- Standardising the banner across multiple brand domains owned by the same organisation
What gets copied
The following are duplicated from the source site to the destination:
- Banner appearance: layout, position, colours, fonts, logo, custom CSS, button styles, overlay settings
- Banner texts: all languages you have configured, including titles, descriptions, button labels, and links
- Region rules: region-specific consent behaviour for EU, US, and other regions
- Integrations: Google Consent Mode v2, Microsoft UET Consent Mode, Microsoft Clarity, and Amazon Consent Signal
- Scan frequency: how often Kukie automatically scans the destination site
What is not copied
Some data is intentionally left alone on the destination site, either because it is unique to that site or because it would create problems if duplicated:
- Google Tag Manager settings are not copied because each site connects to its own GTM container.
- Matomo settings are not copied because each site has its own Matomo site ID and tracker URL.
- Cookie categories on the destination site stay as they are. Each site keeps its own category structure.
- Detected cookies are not copied. After pasting settings to a new site, run a scan to detect that site's actual cookies.
- Legal documents are generated per site with site-specific content and are not copied.
- HTTP Consent Cookies setup is not copied because it requires DNS verification on each domain.
- Visitor consent records are personal data and are never copied between sites.
- Team members and invitations are not copied. Access control stays per site.
- Scan history belongs to the original site and is not duplicated.
Copy settings from a source site
- Go to Sites in your dashboard.
- Find the site whose settings you want to use as the source.
- Click the Actions menu on that site's card.
- Select Copy settings.
- A clipboard banner appears at the top of the Sites page showing which site the settings came from.
Tip: The clipboard is tied to your login session. If you log out, the clipboard is cleared. Just copy again next time.
Paste settings to a single destination
- Find the destination site on the Sites page.
- Click its Actions menu.
- Select Paste settings.
- Read the confirmation dialog carefully. It tells you exactly what will be replaced on the destination.
- Click Paste settings to confirm.
The destination site's banner is updated immediately. Visitors will see the new banner within a few minutes once the CDN bundle refreshes.
Paste settings to multiple sites at once
- Copy settings from the source site as described above.
- On the Sites page, tick the checkbox on each destination site you want to update.
- The bulk action bar appears at the top with the count of selected sites.
- Click Paste settings to N sites.
- Review the list in the confirmation dialog. The source site is automatically excluded if you accidentally selected it.
- Click Paste to N sites to confirm.
Each site is updated in turn. If you do not have edit permission on a particular site (for example, because you are a viewer on a shared site), that site is skipped and listed in the result message.
Important: Pasting replaces the destination site's banner configuration, texts, and region rules. There is no automatic undo. Before pasting to a critical site, consider taking a copy of its current settings first by copying from it to another safe site.
Region rules and plan limits
If your plan limits how many region rules you can have per site, and the source site has more rules than the destination site's plan allows, the extra rules are skipped during paste. You will see a warning message telling you exactly how many were skipped, so you can review the destination's region rules afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Does Copy and Paste include the embed code?
No. Each site has its own unique embed script tag. You install the script on each site individually. Copy and Paste only changes what the script shows to visitors, not how it is installed.
Does it copy the cookies my scanner has detected?
No. Detected cookies come from scanning each individual site. After pasting settings to a new site, run a scan on that site to detect its actual cookies and populate its cookie list.
Can I copy from one organisation to another?
No. Copy and Paste only works within your current organisation. Sites in other organisations are not visible to the clipboard.
My destination site has different cookie categories. Will pasting overwrite them?
No. Cookie categories on the destination site are kept exactly as they are. Only the banner appearance, texts, region rules, and integrations are replaced.
Can I paste to the same site I copied from?
No. The Paste settings option is automatically hidden on the source site to prevent accidental no-op operations. If the source site is in a bulk paste selection, it is silently skipped.
Why are Google Tag Manager and Matomo settings not copied?
These integrations connect to a specific container or instance that is unique to each site. Copying the GTM container ID or Matomo site ID from one site to another would point the destination to the wrong analytics account. You should configure these per site.
Troubleshooting
- Copy settings is missing from the Actions menu: your current plan does not include Copy and Paste Settings. Upgrade in Billing to unlock the feature.
- Paste settings is missing from the Actions menu: either your plan does not include the feature, or you have not copied any settings yet, or you are trying to paste to the source site itself.
- The clipboard banner disappeared: the clipboard expires when you log out. Just copy again.
- Some sites were skipped during bulk paste: you do not have edit permission on those sites. You need to be an editor, admin, or owner to paste to a site.
