Site Limits and Frozen Sites

Last updated Mar 24, 2026

How site limits work

Each Kukie.io plan includes a set number of sites you can manage:

PlanSite limit
Free5 sites (shared across all your organisations)
ProUnlimited
Agency100 sites
UnlimitedUnlimited

Free plan sites are pooled globally - if you have multiple organisations on the free plan, the 5-site limit applies across all of them combined.

What happens when you downgrade

If you downgrade to a plan with a lower site limit (for example, from Pro to Free) and you have more sites than the new limit allows, the excess sites will be frozen.

Frozen sites are not deleted. All your data, settings, and scan history are preserved. The only change is that the cookie consent banner will stop appearing on frozen sites after a 7-day grace period.

The 7-day grace period

When sites are frozen due to a downgrade, the consent banner continues to work normally for 7 days. This gives you time to:

  • Decide which sites to keep active
  • Upgrade your plan to restore all sites
  • Export any data you need

After the grace period ends, the banner stops showing on frozen sites.

Which sites get frozen?

When a downgrade occurs, the newest sites (by creation date) are frozen first. Your oldest sites remain active, since they are likely your most established.

You will receive an email notification listing exactly which sites have been frozen.

Managing frozen sites

You can manage your frozen sites from the Sites page in your dashboard. Frozen sites are displayed in a separate section with an amber indicator.

Swapping active and frozen sites

If you want to activate a frozen site without upgrading, you can swap it with one of your currently active sites:

  1. Go to the Sites page in your dashboard.
  2. Find the frozen site you want to activate.
  3. Click Swap.
  4. Select an active site to freeze instead.
  5. Confirm the swap.

The newly activated site's banner will start working immediately. The newly frozen site will have a 7-day grace period before its banner stops.

Reactivating all frozen sites

The easiest way to reactivate all frozen sites is to upgrade your plan. When you upgrade to a plan with a higher site limit, your frozen sites are automatically unfrozen (oldest first).

Deleting frozen sites

You can delete frozen sites at any time. If you delete a frozen site and have other frozen sites remaining, the oldest frozen site will be automatically activated to fill the freed slot.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my data if a site is frozen?

No. All data including cookie scan results, consent logs, banner configuration, and settings are fully preserved. Freezing only affects the banner display.

Can I still edit a frozen site's settings?

Yes. You can update the domain, banner configuration, and other settings on a frozen site. The changes will take effect when the site is activated again.

What happens if my subscription payment fails?

If a payment fails and your subscription is eventually cancelled, the same freeze process applies - your sites beyond the free plan limit will be frozen with a 7-day grace period.
