Kukie.io includes a built-in legal document generator that creates cookie policies tailored to your website. The wizard asks a series of questions about your data practices, then generates a document with sections for the regions you choose in its Where your visitors are step.
Accessing Legal Documents
Navigate to your site in the dashboard and click Legal Documents in the sub-navigation. This page lists all your generated documents and lets you create new ones.
The Wizard Flow
On the Cookie Policy card, select Create (or Edit for a policy you already have) to start the wizard. You will be asked a series of questions about:
- Your company or organisation name and contact details.
- Whether your site uses cookies beyond those strictly needed. The cookies themselves, and their categories, come from your latest scan and the Cookies & Scripts page.
- Whether you share data with third parties.
- How long cookies persist on visitors' devices.
- How visitors can manage or delete cookies.
Some questions appear conditionally based on your previous answers. For example, the questions about Brazil's encarregado (data protection officer) appear only when you choose Brazil.
Automatic Law Detection
The generator adds the rights sections for the regions you choose in the wizard, not from your banner's region rules: choose the EU and the GDPR rights are included, choose Brazil and the LGPD rights and the petition to Brazil's data protection agency (ANPD) are. Only the regions you choose get a section.
Customising the Generated Content
The text comes from your answers: to change it, change an answer and generate the document again. Kukie.io does not offer an editor for the generated text.
Publishing Options
Once you are satisfied with the content, select Publish. The card then gives you two codes:
- HTML Code - the full HTML of the document, which you can paste into a page on your own site.
- Embed Code (iframe) - an iframe that shows the hosted document, served at
app.kukie.io/legal/your-site-key/cookie-policy, inside your existing page.
Tip: The embed is the easiest to maintain. When you publish the document again in Kukie.io, the hosted page shows the new version, with no need to copy the HTML again.
The Link in Your Banner
Once you publish a cookie policy or a privacy policy, your banner links to its hosted page, so visitors can open it from the banner without you copying a URL. A URL you enter in Banner Editor > Texts always comes first: the link uses the language's own URL, then your default language's URL, and the published document only when both are empty. To link a page on your own site that shows the policy, enter that page's address there.
- A visitor whose banner shows Brazilian Portuguese gets the Portuguese document when you published one. Every other language gets the English document, or the Portuguese one when it is the only one published.
- The links show while the Privacy Policy link and Cookie Policy link switches are on in Banner Editor > Design. Drafts are never linked.
- A cookie wall does not show the two links. Visitors who get the wall find them in the preferences modal when the wall shows Manage preferences and Show policy links in the modal is on in Banner Editor > Preferences modal.
Documents in Brazilian Portuguese
The cookie policy and the privacy policy can also be published in Brazilian Portuguese. On the document's card, select Português (Brasil), then Create. The card opens on Português (Brasil) when your banner's default language is Brazilian Portuguese.
- Each language is a separate document, with its own answers, status and codes. The first time, the wizard fills in your answers from the English document.
- The wizard's questions stay in English. Text you type, such as your address or your own clauses, appears in the document exactly as you type it, so write it in Portuguese.
- Category names and descriptions come from your Brazilian Portuguese Category Texts in the Banner Editor, then from Kukie.io's built-in translation of the standard categories, then from the Categories tab. A cookie's purpose comes from its Brazilian Portuguese translation in Cookies & Scripts; a cookie without one keeps its own description.
- The embed is served at
app.kukie.io/legal/your-site-key/cookie-policy/pt-br, and the English one stays where it is.
Branding Footer
Published legal documents end with a small "Powered by Kukie.io" line, on every plan.
