Generate a Cookie Policy

Last updated Mar 24, 2026

Kukie.io includes a built-in legal document generator that creates cookie policies tailored to your website. The wizard asks a series of questions about your data practices, then generates a document that covers the applicable privacy regulations for your configured regions.

1 Answer Questions Wizard flow 2 Generate Auto-tailored content 3 Publish URL, HTML, or iframe

Navigate to your site in the dashboard and click Legal Documents in the sub-navigation. This page lists all your generated documents and lets you create new ones.

The Wizard Flow

Click Generate Cookie Policy to start the wizard. You will be asked a series of questions about:

  • Your company or organisation name and contact details.
  • The types of cookies your site uses (necessary, analytics, marketing, functional).
  • Whether you share data with third parties.
  • How long cookies persist on visitors' devices.
  • How visitors can manage or delete cookies.

Some questions appear conditionally based on your previous answers. For example, questions about CCPA-specific disclosures only appear if you have configured a US region rule.

Automatic Law Detection

The generator automatically includes sections for the privacy laws that apply to your site, based on the region rules you have configured. If you have an EU region rule, GDPR sections are included. If you have a US region rule, CCPA/CPRA sections appear. This ensures your cookie policy covers all the jurisdictions your site serves.

Customising the Generated Content

After the wizard generates the document, you can edit the content directly in the editor. Add company-specific details, adjust language, or include additional clauses as needed. The generated text serves as a comprehensive starting point that you can tailor to your requirements.

Publishing Options

Once you are satisfied with the content, click Publish. You will see three options for making the document available:

  • Public URL - a hosted page at app.kukie.io/legal/your-site-key/cookie-policy that you can link to from your site.
  • HTML Code - the full HTML of the document, which you can paste into a page on your own site.
  • Embed (iframe) - an iframe snippet that embeds the hosted document inside your existing page.

Tip: The public URL option is the easiest to maintain. When you update the document in Kukie.io, the public URL automatically reflects the changes - no need to re-copy HTML.

Published legal documents include a small "Powered by Kukie.io" footer. This branding follows the same plan-based rules as the cookie banner - it can be removed on plans that include branding removal.
